April 2nd, 2017—Disney California Adventure Park
ANAHEIM—After I had a breakfast of eggs, sausage and potato and a glass of apple juice, the three of us walked the two blocks to the Annabelle to meet up with Alexe and Esmé. Alexe had yet to have breakfast so Gavin and I went on ahead to Disney Downtown before being joined there by the rest of the family around 11:00am.
We stood in line for the Animation Academy but they were having technical difficulties so we went instead to see Turtle Talk with Crush—an animated turtle that can answer questions from the audience in real-time. Very well done. Also visited the Sorcerers Workshop from Beauty and the Beast where some of the sorcerer’s magic books, by asking some questions, could tell you which Disney character you were most like.
Esmé, eager to do some rides, did Ladybug Boogie with Dad and Flik’s Flight with Uncle.
Had lunch at Radiator Springs before joining the queue for the Cars ride. Should have got a fastpass! The ride broke down for a while just as we were finally getting near the end of the queue. Thankfully it was halted for long and we finally got the chance to ride. After winning the race it was back to Animation Academy to learn how to draw Oswald the Rabbit. Browsed through more stores, before Alexe and the girls headed back to the hotel for a nap while Gavin and I headed to Paradise Pier and rode Mickey’s Ferris Wheel. Took the non-swinging option as the wait time was shorter!
Back to Disney Downtown to see Beauty and the Beast at the AMC Theatre. Enjoyed the film more than I thought I would.
On the way back to the hotel, we stopped at an eatery that, while open, was in the process of closing up for the night. We bought something to go, and it was some 30 minutes later that I noticed I didn’t have my bag with my t-shirt purchase with me. In the morning I’ll be going back to see if they found it.
Hiya Russell, sounds like things are going well, if a little exhausting. Did you enjoy the Disney rides? Am loving the photos, esp in London and the National gallery, and “Gavin in his element” :o). Thanks for the Charlotte Tilbury shot too. ;o)
I wanted to say thank you so much for letting me use your carpark. We had the remnants of Cyclone Debbie hit NZ last week with lots of wild weather – rain and strong wind – and it has been soooo good parking close the library building. :o)
Take care
Amanda
Hi Amanda, both Disney days were exhausting, and very crowded. Didn’t get to do that many rides, but a lot of browsing the shops. There was so much I would have liked to have bought but, being at the start of the trip, I restrained myself to two t-shirts and a sweatshirt!
Exited the Covent Garden tube station and there it was! —very hard to miss. Pleased you finding the car park convenient—enjoy it while you can 😉
Regards, Russell
This looks like a much better day than the terminal experience. Thankfully there were no cavity searches.. or is that story for paid subscribers only? lol.
It was a shame that the Animation Academy was broken down, but lunch at Radiator Springs would definitely be a highlight for me if I were to go. Did you get to any of the Star Wars rides/shops?
Keep going.. I can’t wait to hear what else you guys have been up to.
Cheers
Rob
