Eliza Hancock, d.1938

Eliza Hancock, widow, died at 79 Harrison Street, Wanganui, on August 19, 1938, aged 91 years. The cause of death was certified as chronic myocarditis and arteriosclerosis by A. G. Crawford on August 19, 1938.

She was buried in Karori Cemetery, Wellington on August 22, 1938. Eliza Hancock was born in Wiltshire, England to William Darby, labourer, and Mary Darby (née Shurmer), and had resided in New Zealand for 66 years. Eliza Darby married George Hancock in Wellington when she was aged 25 years. She left no living children.
